Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Updated: Oct 20, 2020

Breast cancer death rates declined 40% from 1989 to 2016 among women. The progress is attributed to improvements in early detection.

All Real Estate Title Solutions joins the annual campaign on breast cancer awareness, which is why we have decided to change our logo in this very important month, to support all those women who day by day fight against this terrible disease.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, claiming the lives of hundreds of thousands of women each year. Although it’s rare, men can also be diagnosed with breast cancer. With breast cancer continuing to impact so many people, it’s important to understand the disease and what strides researchers are making.

Key Facts

  • More than 3.1 million breast cancer survivors live in the U.S. today.

  • The lifetime risk of getting breast cancer in the U.S. is about 1 in 8 for women and 1 in 1,000 for men.

  • Research shows that only 5-10% of breast cancers are hereditary.

  • The most significant risk factors for breast cancer are being female and aging. About 95% of all breast cancers in the US occur in women 40 and older.

  • Getting a mammogram can help reduce the number of deaths from breast cancer by 30 to 40% among women ages 40 to 70.

  • Breast cancer deaths have been declining since 1990 thanks to early detection, better screening, increased awareness, and new treatment options.

Breast Cancer Prevention and Detection

The lifetime risk of getting breast cancer is about 1 in 8 for women in the U.S. and 1 in 1,000 for men. Although there is no definitive way to prevent breast cancer, there are things we can do to significantly reduce our breast cancer risk and to catch it early when there is a greater chance that treatment will be most effective.

It is important for us that everyone in our society be aware of this disease and decide to contribute by supporting these people who have had to go through this experience.
